Magnum Builders provided Construction Manager At Risk Services for the new Longboat Key Police Department. Magnum realized Value Engineering options that reduced the initial costs by $152,000, allowing the project to move forward and meet the project budget. Magnum completed the construction and returned $42,000 to the owner under the GMP budget. This project had some environmentally sensitive areas including wetlands and protected native vegetation that had to be permitted and constructed around.
The Police station will also function as the Emergency Management Control Center for the island of Longboat Key during a storm or other emergency event. This required the structure to be constructed with impact resistant windows and an emergency power supply capable of maintaining all of the normal building functionality in the event of a power outage.
