Sarasota County - Caspersen Beach Park

Magnum Builders provided the Construction Management services to construct this project. The project site was physically separated by waterways and a bridge which required close coordination for material deliveries.

This project includes the construction of roadway improvements, Lift Stations, utilities, multiple restroom pavilions, multi-use pedestrian trails, parking facilities (paved & unpaved), landscaping, irrigation, hardscape, playground alterations, post-and-rope fencing and chain link fencing. The project also required sensitive planning for the large number of Gopher Tortoises present on the project site. Uniquely, this project included major utility infrastructure including 4,000 linear feet of directional bored water main and forced main sewer lines to connect to the nearest utility location all through environmentally sensitive coastal land.

Magnum Builders’ Impact to the Success of the Project:

The project had a very tight schedule for completion; Magnum Builders completed the project on-time. The primary restroom pavilion is located next to an environmentally sensitive area protected by law from encroachment during construction. Magnum Builders excavated 12 feet below the existing grade in order to construct the foundation system per the D.E.P. Requirements, backfill and continue the construction to 25 feet above grade. This work was done successfully within 7 feet of the environmentally sensitive area without any encroachment. Careful planning and management of the subcontractors resulted in flawless execution of construction without impacting the protected areas. Magnum Builders have provided safe access to the beach through our construction limits via fencing and way finding as to not impact the park patrons daily activities. Much was learned from this project, i.e. how to manage the beach-going public and ways to keep them safe and not diminish their park experience.
