Douglas W. Baltzer incorporated Magnum Builders of Sarasota, Inc. in 1983. The Company began by performing light commercial general contracting and limited custom residential construction. In 1988, Michael L. Baltzer joined the firm as Vice President. Magnum Builders expanded into the Public Construction market at that time. Over the past 17 years, Magnum Builders has been providing quality construction services in the Manatee and Sarasota areas. Because the Firm has worked almost exclusively in the local area for 17 years, it developed sound relationships with the local sub-contractors and Owners/Municipalities for which projects were completed. 

Magnum Builders’ construction experience includes a wide variety of projects ranging from School Buildings, Government Facilities, Office Buildings and Hospitals to Fire and Police Stations, Site Development, Road Work and Recreational Facilities. With this experience comes the ability to provide historical data on just about all types of construction and the expertise to complete the most varied and complicated construction projects. 

The Firm was very successful in the “Competitive Bid Market” during the 1980’s and 1990’s. In the mid 1990’s, Magnum Builders began a program to promote the Construction Management features of the business. They recognized the benefits of Construction Management over Low-Bid General Contracting methods. Presently, the major portion of work-in-progress is being performed under Construction Management contracts. Since the inception, Magnum Builders has successfully completed over 186 projects; a listing of selected projects is available to view in this site. 

Magnum Builders ability to complete projects on time and in budget is supported by the fact the Magnum Builders has never been assessed penalties or liquidated damages of any kind on any projects and has successfully completed every project it has started and contracted since it’s inception. In addition, Magnum Builders has never been involved in any litigation, mediation, or law suites of any kind with any of the Owners or Sub-contractors involved in any of their projects.
